It started with one
nagging question.

Welcome to Highly Remote. We got going in early 2022, and there was no grand business plan behind it. Just a hunch that felt worth chasing.

The first version was a plain job board. Post the roles, help people find them, that was the whole idea. But the longer we ran it, the more we kept walking into the same mess. Remote work was spreading fast, and somehow finding a real remote job had got harder, not easier.

People were losing whole evenings to listings that had closed weeks ago. Dodging "recruiters" who wanted a registration fee. Clicking through four redirects to land on a form that didn't submit. Adding more listings was never going to fix any of that. What people were short on wasn't openings. It was trust.

Choosing precision over volume

So we made a call that cost us thousands of listings. We cut the noise. No scraped feeds, no hybrid roles dressed up as remote, no reposts of a repost. Only genuine remote work, read by a person before it goes live.

Hiring bars keep climbing, and a mountain of raw data doesn't help anyone clear them. So we spent months picking apart what actually separates a good listing from a bad one. Who posted it. How old it is. Whether the company ever replies. Whether the pay is stated like an honest number or a riddle.

What came out of that still guides us. Running a remote job board well turns out to be a job of patience and precision, not scale. Careful checks, honest data, and the shortest possible path between a person and the role they're right for.
